Graphic Design. 1890-Today
Buy on Amazon →A compact survey of graphic design's greatest hits from 1890 to today.
Why it matters
Muller's chronological survey is a reference book masquerading as a coffee-table object. Every decade is covered with spreads that reward slow looking. The editorial decisions about what belongs and what doesn't reveal as much as the work itself. Useful as a primer on visual culture and as a reminder that every design trend eventually becomes historical irony. The grid work from the Swiss International Style alone is worth the shelf space.
